Director Phil Gryce joined the caravan which was to travel across some of the countries joining the EU in May 1st: Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia. He was representing the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Arrival in Bled
Day before the start, a walk round Lake Bled with Mike Pupius. Splendid spring weather.
Snow on the mountains, primroses around the lake. We met an intinerant atist, painting in water-colours.
Slovenia competes in rowing at Henley and Olympics: the country won gold in the coxless pairs at Sydney 2000.
